Footage of an asteroid passing over Yakutia has been published

Local residents spotted an asteroid in the sky above Yakutia. The passage of the celestial body on Tuesday, December 3, eyewitnesses filmed on video.

The recording shows a bright object in the sky, which eventually passed over the atmosphere.

The Main Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) in the Telegram-channel reported that the safety of life activity of the population was not violated.

"Residents of the Olekminsky and Lensky districts this night could observe a comet-like tail and flares," the agency noted.

Earlier in the day, the head of the Extra terra consortium laboratory of the Ural Federal University (UrFU) Viktor Grokhovsky said that the fall of the asteroid is the 11th case in history, when scientists determined the phenomenon in advance and calculated the trajectory.

Before that, in early October, astronomer, an employee of the Institute of Applied Mathematics named after M.V. Keldysh. MV Keldysh RAS Leonid Elenin told "Izvestia" that, according to the calculations of scientists, the asteroid 2024 PT5 will remain near-Earth and from time to time will approach the Earth.
