Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has said during a meeting with the secretary-general of the Council of the European Union (EU), Therese Blanchet, that he expects turning points in Ukraine in the next six months. This was reported on December 3 on the website of the Polish government.

During the meeting, Tusk drew attention to the priorities of his state during the presidency of the EU in the first half of 2025.

"Our priorities are not routine. <...> We may be facing watershed events concerning war and peace east of our border. A deep revision of some European priorities also awaits us," he said.

The Polish prime minister also added that he would strive to make Europe realize that a realistic assessment of relations with Russia is crucial for the future of the European Union.

On December 1, political scientist and international relations expert Enes Karakhanov said that former Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas is hardly capable of radically changing the EU's foreign policy as High Representative for Foreign Affairs.

A day earlier, Polish presidential candidate Slawomir Mentzen said that he would not allow his fellow citizens to participate in the conflict in Ukraine and die for Kiev. According to him, he would like to see Poland as a sovereign state, which will not have to ask Berlin, Brussels or Washington for permission on any issue.

Before that, on November 28, the head of Poland's National Security Bureau, Jacek Severa, said that Russia was winning the conflict in Ukraine. If we look in terms of the area of occupied territory, Russia will win in this conflict, Severa specified.

The special operation to protect Donbass, which was announced in February 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
