AFU militant gets 24.5 years for killing civilian in DNR


The Supreme Court of the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR) has sentenced a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) for the murder of a civilian. This was reported by the regional prosecutor's office on December 3.
The shooter of the special purpose unit "Azov" of the National Guard of Ukraine (terrorist organization banned in Russia), 30-year-old Igor Ivanyuk, was found guilty under p. p. "g", "l" of part 2 of article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Murder committed by an organized group, motivated by political, ideological hatred) and under part 1 of article 356 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Cruel treatment of civilians in the occupied territory").
"It was established that between March and April 2022, Ivanyuk, while in a combat position in Mariupol, shot a civilian walking along Volnistaya Street with an automatic rifle. As a result of his wounds, the man died at the scene," the DNR prosecutor's office said.
The court sentenced Ivanyuk to 24 years and 6 months of imprisonment with serving his sentence in a strict regime penal colony, the agency said.
Earlier, on November 28, in the DNR detained a resident of Snezhnoye, who organized arson on the instructions of the Ukrainian security services. It was reported that the man was carrying out assignments to set fire and video recording of communication facilities in order to destabilize the social situation.
