- Prospects for business cooperation between Russia and Turkey to be discussed in Istanbul

Istanbul will host a retreat organized by the Roscongress Foundation. This year it will be dedicated to Russia's business ecosystem for Turkish entrepreneurs.
On December 10, 2024, Istanbul will host a retreat session on promoting Russia's business and investment potential in the Republic of Turkey, which will bring together representatives of business, business associations, media and government agencies of Russia and Turkey. The participants will discuss new opportunities for strengthening bilateral cooperation and expanding trade and economic ties. The key objective of the event is not only to familiarize themselves with the current mechanisms for supporting cooperation between Russian and foreign companies, but also to consider new mechanisms of cooperation to overcome challenges in the transforming global economy.
"Turkey has been a long-standing partner of Russia in such key sectors as agriculture, metallurgy and energy. Russian companies are also actively involved in the implementation of major projects in Turkey - for example, the construction of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant. Through the Roscongress Foundation, we are also developing our cooperation: in 2022, the Foundation and the Russian-Turkish Business House Rost signed a memorandum of cooperation; in 2023, we established a partnership with Discover Events, a Turkish company that organizes the participation of local businesses in foreign events. In addition, the Roscongress Foundation cooperates with the Foreign Economic Relations Committee of Turkey (DEIK)," emphasized Alexander Stuglev, Chairman of the Board, Director of the Roscongress Foundation.
Previously, the Roscongress Foundation has twice organized field sessions under the auspices of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) in Turkey. Since the launch of the roadshows in 2022, they have become an effective tool for partnership development, bringing together more than 600 business representatives from 10 countries.
"Now we are all witnessing a turning point in the development of the global economy. New working conditions are being formed before our eyes; and due to the illegitimate sanctions against our country, they cannot be called easy. At the same time, there is a certain potential and natural opportunities to expand Russian-Turkish mutually beneficial cooperation in the emerging new system of coordinates. The events of the Roscongress Foundation, including the field session in Istanbul, just allow us to get together and discuss significant problems and possible solutions, exchange views on joint actions for the future", - said Alexey Erkhov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Turkey.
At the meeting, Turkish businesses will be introduced to the opportunities of the Fund's ecosystem for foreign partners, including SPIEF, the Eastern Economic Forum and the Russian Tourism Forum "Travel!", as well as the opportunities of business and government institutions of Russia for bilateral interaction. Participants will be able to familiarize themselves with the latest initiatives and projects aimed at strengthening international cooperation and Russia's investment attractiveness.
Special attention will be paid to the presentation of SPIEF-2025 - an international platform for discussing global economic issues.
"The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is an ideal entry point for foreign companies planning to start or expand their business in Russia. Participation in the Forum provides a unique opportunity to establish contacts with representatives of federal ministries and agencies, regional authorities, as well as leading companies in various industries. We try to create all the necessary conditions for productive work and achieving business goals, facilitating the formation of long-term partnerships and the conclusion of mutually beneficial agreements," said Alexey Valkov, Deputy Director of the Roscongress Foundation and Director of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
The event will also include a B2B session "Opportunities for Russian-Turkish business cooperation", where representatives of Turkish businesses, Russian organizations and government agencies will discuss trends for expanding cooperation between the two countries. Among the participants are the Trade Representation and the Russian Embassy in Turkey, the Russian Export Center, Opora Russia, Business Russia, the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation.
