Investigative Committee launched a check after reports of a dog biting SOGMA students

The Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania is conducting a procedural check after reports about a dog that snuck into the auditorium of the North Ossetian State Medical Academy (SOGMA) and allegedly bit students. This was reported in the department to "Izvestia" on December 3.

The republican Ministry of Health added that one student applied to the trauma center. The patient's wound was treated and an antirabic vaccine was administered.

Rector of the North Ossetian State Medical Academy (SOGMA) Oleg Remizov in a conversation with Izvestia denied reports that the dog that ran into the territory of the educational institution was rabid and bit the students.

"On Dekabristov Street, repair work is underway, replacing the road surface. Someone's pet dog (and around the private sector) got lost and ran in, the students took this dog to warm up and began to play with it. But she was looking for her owners and two students confused animal seized. The dog was calmly taken out, they called the city hall, the kennel, came to pick it up, but it [the owners] was not found," he said.

Remizov assured that none of the students had lacerations or even cuts. Nevertheless, it was decided that the two students who were touched by the animal would be given an anti-rabies vaccine.

"The students started playing with her (the dog. - Ed.), she was scared off. [She] tried to find a way out, did not lunge at anyone, did not throw herself at anyone. It did not tear anything, did not cut or bite anyone," the rector added.

Remizov emphasized that we are talking specifically about a pet dog - the animal was well-groomed, not hungry and was looking for owners.

Earlier, there was footage of a dog sneaking into a lecture with SOGMA students and showing aggression. The students fought back with notebooks and scared the dog away with their feet.
