The Federal Republic of Germany is not a testing ground for the deployment of American forces. This statement was made by the co-chairman of the Alternative for Germany (AdG) party, Tino Hrupalla, on 3 December.

According to him, the party has always argued that the FRG should stay out of the conflict in Ukraine. He said Germany became a party to the conflict when "Western weapons were delivered as soon as German tanks started attacking Russian territory."

"We are in principle not a European testing ground for the deployment of US forces, and we do not want to become a battlefield for the Americans in Europe," Hrupalla said in an interview with the Flavio von Witzleben channel published on YouTube.

According to him, Germany's fears about the escalation of the conflict are fair and the party will continue to propose the idea of ending the Ukrainian conflict ahead of the Bundestag elections.

In addition, the AdG co-chairman said that trying to resolve the conflict should be the task of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and added that now there is a good chance to get a willingness to negotiate from Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The day before, Scholz published a message to Putin on the social network X (formerly Twitter), in which he noted that Germany's support for Ukraine is not weakening and will be provided "as long as necessary." Later, the chairman of the Committee on Public Diplomacy and Interethnic Relations and the head of the Crimean German community, Yuriy Hempel, called the message shameful and not in line with the national interests of Germany.

On December 2, the German chancellor arrived in Kiev and announced the allocation of €650 million worth of arms to Kiev. He also said that he wanted to "make it clear that Germany will remain the main country in Europe supporting Ukraine." Scholz arrived in Ukraine for the first time in 2.5 years.

Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Kiev amid Russia's special operation to defend Donbass, which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, after the situation in the region worsened due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
