Media reported on European discussions on ceasefire in Ukraine

Europe is discussing the possibility of sending troops to Ukraine to monitor the implementation of the cease-fire. This was reported by Agence France-Presse (AFP) on December 3, citing Western diplomats.
"Initial discussions have begun on whether European troops could be deployed to enforce any possible ceasefire," the agency said.
It is clarified that the discussions are taking place between individual countries and not within NATO.
Earlier in the day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that European leaders intend to continue a destructive line to escalate the Ukrainian conflict.
On December 2, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz expressed support for Kiev during his visit to Ukraine. He said that he would provide assistance to the Ukrainian people "as long as necessary". Scholz also announced the allocation of €650m worth of arms to Kiev. He said that he wanted to "make it clear that Germany will remain the main country in Europe supporting Ukraine".
On 1 December, the new head of European diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, told journalists that the possibility of European countries sending troops to Ukraine could not be ruled out.
Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Kiev amid a special operation to protect Donbas, which Russia announced on February 24, 2022, after the situation in the region worsened due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
