The construction of the first in Moscow corridor of accelerated traffic for buses and electric buses has begun in the north-east of the capital. This was reported in the Department of Transport.

The project, which is implemented jointly with the Moscow Municipal Economy Complex, provides for the creation of a separate dedicated lane in the extreme left lane, as well as special boarding platforms for stops.

The corridor will pass through Cherepovetskaya, Shirokaya and Leskova streets. Buses and electric buses will get priority to pass intersections. In addition, the number of crosswalks will be increased. It is also planned to equip additional parking spaces for private cars.

The works are going to be completed at the end of this year on Cherepovetskaya Street, on Leskova and Shirokaya Streets - in the fall of 2025. Currently, 33 routes run along these streets. With the opening of the corridor, ground transportation will pass this section on average almost one third faster. The project will also reduce the number of accidents and traffic delays.

In addition, thanks to the creation of the corridor, high-speed ground transportation will connect metro and MCD stations "Lianozovo", "Altufievo", "Medvedkovo" and the railway station Los. Additional parking spaces for cars will appear, and the capacity of intersections will increase.
Bus rapid transit corridors are already used in many countries around the world. In Russia, these projects have been implemented in St. Petersburg and Belgorod.
