Poisoning of children in the Krasnoyarsk region - what happened

The poisoning of a large family from the Krasnoyarsk village of Krasnaya Sopka became known at the end of September. On Friday, September 20, a pregnant mother, father and four children had dinner with dumplings and chicken bought in a local store. In the morning, all family members felt ill and went to the hospital and were hospitalized.

On Saturday, September 21, two children - a 13-year-old boy and his six-year-old sister - died in the clinic. The next day, a third child died, and another day later, a fourth. The parents were in intensive care for some time, but on Monday came to their senses, on September 25 they were discharged.

The children were buried in the Krasnoyarsk region on September 30.

What caused the death of poisoned children in Krasnoyarsk region

After the death of four children, a criminal case was opened on the production, storage and sale of products that do not meet safety requirements.

Law enforcers began checks in the house of the victims and in the store where the products were bought. It turned out that the meat and dumplings in the retail outlet "Olymp", where the family bought, were sold with violations of veterinary requirements. However, the examination did not reveal dangerous substances in the food samples taken from the house of the poisoned family.

It also became known that on the day of the tragedy, the house where the family lived was treated with dichlophos. Substances included in the insecticidal agent, subsequently found in samples of vomit masses of the victims. The same components were found on the hair of a dead kitten - the family's pet. Already on September 27, the Investigative Committee called the priority version of non-compliance with safety precautions in the use of insecticidal means.

Bringing charges against the father of the dead children in Krasnoyarsk region

In early December, the regional department of the Investigative Committee confirmed that the cause of death of four children in Krasnoyarsk region was poisoning with dichlofos.

As reported in the Telegram-channel of the department, the head of the family did not comply with the recommendations on the safe use of insecticide during the treatment of premises. In particular, the requirements for prolonged ventilation and subsequent wet cleaning were not observed. Components of the product were ingested by the children, resulting in acute poisoning and death.

On Tuesday, December 3, the father of the dead children was charged under Part 3 Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Causing death by negligence"), the man pleaded guilty. He chose a measure of restraint in the form of a signature not to leave.

However, later the head of the family disagreed with the results of the examination. He said that he had indeed sprayed dichlofos in the house, but does not believe that it was this remedy that led to the death of the children.

"In general, I don't agree that it's dichlofos. Because, well, what is it, you have to fill the whole house with dichlorvos? I do not agree with the expertise that it is dichlofos," he said.

The man added that his wife is in a depressed emotional state after the tragedy, but her health has already normalized.
