The IX BRICS Young Scientists Forum was held at Sirius


On November 29, on the margins of the IV Congress of Young Scientists at the Sirius University of Science and Technology, the IX BRICS Young Scientists Forum was solemnly closed. The event, which concluded Russia's BRICS Chairmanship in the field of science, technology and innovation, gathered the largest number of participants in its history - 180 delegates.
"It is symbolic that the Russian BRICS Chairmanship pays special attention to young scientists. It is you who are at the forefront of rapid technological change and fundamental scientific discoveries. I am confident that on the margins of the Congress of Young Scientists, within the framework of which this year's forum was held, researchers from different countries managed to establish new international ties, which in the future will develop into joint initiatives capable of changing the world," said Valery Falkov, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.
The plenary session concluding the business program of the Forum was addressed by the heads of delegations, members of the jury of the BRICS Young Innovators Competition, representatives of thematic working groups in the areas of artificial intelligence, digital humanities, environmental and nature-like technologies as a driving force for a sustainable future.
The day before, at the plenary session of the Congress held by Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, the winners of the VII BRICS Young Innovators Competition were announced. Its goal is to identify the best projects capable of contributing to the development of world science and economy, as well as to involve as many young scientists as possible in international scientific and technical cooperation. Scientists from Brazil, China and Russia became laureates of the competition.
In addition, for the first time in the history of the Forum, the best young innovators of the BRICS countries who did not win prizes in the main competition were announced and honored at the final event. They were:
- Hadi Fahmy Markos (Egypt) with the development of methane emission-reducing capsules for use in animal husbandry;
- Hema Sundara Siva Ramakrishna (India) with a project on sustainable and scalable lubricant solutions: from laboratory to industry;
- Zahraa Al Essa (UAE) with a project on biodiesel production from vegetable oils;
- Somai Sohrabi Shahsavari (Iran) with the development of a cost-effective microfluidic chip for water purification;
- Vukile Mlawu Mnyande (South Africa) with the project of intelligent control system for microgrids of power generation with integration of waste batteries of electric cars.
The 9th BRICS Young Scientists Forum became a starting point for the creation of international scientific consortia and the birth of new initiatives aimed at ensuring technological development of states and sustainability of national economies.
