After the statement of Donald Trump, who won the presidential election in the United States, about the probable introduction of 100% duties for BRICS countries, it turned out that this decision could negatively affect ordinary consumers in the United States. This was reported on December 3 by the CBS television channel.

"The introduction of 100% duties will not benefit American consumers .... Such duties will lead to an increase in the cost of goods from BRICS countries, which could potentially lead to higher inflation and higher prices for consumers," the channel noted.

The TV channel emphasized that the price of those goods produced in the countries of the association will increase.

According to the TV channel, the list of the main products that the US imports from BRICS countries includes coffee from Brazil, electronics and clothing from China, as well as minerals from South Africa.

Earlier, Trump said he would impose 100% duties on BRICS countries if they did not abandon plans to create an alternative currency to the dollar.

On the same day, the media reported that the introduction of trade duties of 100% on the goods of the BRICS countries will strengthen the desire of the members of the association to abandon the dollar. This was reported by the columnist of the Brazilian magazine O Cafezinho Miguel do Rosário. According to him, Trump's threats to impose duties only reinforce "the need to develop safer trade spaces".
