In Russia, chewing gum began to be added to the composition of rolled bitumen waterproofing. This December 3 told "Izvestia" in the company "Technonikol", which received a patent for the production of such materials. As a result, such a roof has the smell of mint, or fruit flavor.

Scientists have developed a technology for the production of waterproofing based on polyester, protected on both sides of the polymer-bitumen binder, which contains chewing gum. It consists of 60% rubber base, the remaining 40% are sugar substitutes, food additives and flavorings. At the same time, polyisobutylene and rubber base are similar raw materials.

"Polyisobutylene is used in the production of roofing materials. It is contained in plasticizers, which add plasticizing properties to bitumen and flexibility and heat resistance to the finished material," explained Kirill Kemaev, executive director of Technonikol plant in Vyborg.

At the production site, chewing gum is added to bitumen. The company receives recyclable materials from the manufacturer, which previously had to look for ways to utilize them.

Earlier, on November 29, it was reported that old TV sets and cell phones began to recycle into roads. This is stated in the album of technologies for the utilization of waste from the use of goods, developed by the Russian environmental operator. Plastic case of cell phones and glass from LCD displays of TV sets after recycling are delivered to road-building plants, and then these recycled resources are added to road pavement.
