Two children die in chickenpox outbreak at boarding school near Volgograd

An outbreak of chickenpox occurred in a children's psychoneurological boarding school in Volgograd Region. Eleven children became ill, two of them died. This was reported by a source of "Izvestia" on December 3.

According to the interlocutor, the disease was actively spreading during November. Preliminary, the cause of death of two pupils is pneumonia.

The sick have been hospitalized, the condition of six of them is assessed as medium severity, three are treated on an outpatient basis.

Earlier, on October 22, the Department of Rospotrebnadzor for Perm Krai reported that there had been an outbreak of measles among the Roma population in the region. Employees of the department vaccinated people according to epidemiological indications. It was specified that those who fell ill were not vaccinated against measles and contracted the disease at a Roma wedding, and the source was one of the guests who came from the Sverdlovsk region.
