An expert spoke about the growth of TV viewing by Russians


More than 60% of the Russian population turn on the TV on average every day, television is the most covered media in the country, said Alexander Vorontsov, leading manager of Mediascope's TV segment customer support sector, at the international Telefamily Days conference on December 3.
"Television as a whole in 2024 is one of the most covered media in the country, it is 63% of daily coverage. That is, more than half of the Russian population turns on the TV on average every day. At least one minute a month, almost the entire population of the country watches TV - that's 97%," Vorontsov said.
According to him, the time of watching TV is growing quite significantly and is growing along with the average age of the viewer. The average TV viewing time in Russia is 3 hours and 24 minutes, he added.
Vorontsov also said that about half of all genres that people watch on TV are serials and entertainment programs (48%), news social and political programs (24%).
Earlier, on November 21, the head of customer service and data analytics Mediascope Irina Suanova said that serials have become the most popular content for Russians on TV and in online cinemas.
Before that, on November 15, Svetlana Balanova, CEO of the National Media Group (NMG), reported that 94% of viewers in Russia positively evaluated the new content of the domestic media industry.
