A janitor of a hotel in St. Petersburg stole jewelry from the wife of tennis player, second racket player of Belarus Yegor Gerasimov. This was reported by a source of "Izvestia" on December 3.

According to him, the janitor himself came to the police with a confession. He told the law enforcers that November 30 evening he went to clean the room, performing the task of the supervisor. After a while, a woman living in the room came in and asked the man to postpone cleaning and come back in half an hour. When that time had passed, the hotel employee returned to the room and found used tissues, makeup supplies and a silver ring in the bathroom.

The man threw away the tissues and decided to put the ring in a jewelry box on a glass shelf above the sink. There he found a gold chain with a silver cross, a silver incense ring and a gold pendant with a green gemstone embedded in it. The janitor put the jewelry in his pocket, did his job in the room, and then went down to the back room and went home.

The man stated that he decided to commit the crime because of his dire financial situation. The janitor fully admitted his guilt. The damage from the theft amounted to more than 320 thousand rubles.

Earlier, on November 23, in Krasnodar region detained a suspect in the robbery of a jewelry store. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, the man broke the window with a piece of paving tile, stole jewelry worth about Br365 thousand and tried to escape. The guards stopped the intruder and handed him over to the police.
