Former world number one Neil Fraser died at the age of 91. This was reported on December 3 on the website of the Tennis Federation of Australia.

"Australian tennis has lost one of its giants", - stated in the message.

The cause of death Fraser is not specified, the athlete was left a spouse.

Neil Fraser won 19 Grand Slam titles, and at the tournament in Forest Hills in 1959, he took all three U.S. titles (singles, doubles and mixed doubles) and led Australia to victory in the Davis Cup. In total, he won four Davis Cups as a player and four more as captain of the national team.

Fraser was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1984 and the Australian Tennis Hall of Fame in 1994. In 2008, he was honored with the Philippe Chatrier Award for outstanding achievement in tennis.
