Following the right diet and using nutraceuticals can help in the fight against skin dryness, flaking and premature signs of aging. Mindly's medical director, endocrinologist-nutritionist, preventive and anti-aging medicine specialist Karina Avramova told Izvestia on December 3 about how to maintain healthy and youthful skin in winter with the help of supplements.

"Omega-3 fatty acids are the basis for moisturized and firm skin. They strengthen cell membranes and prevent moisture loss. It is recommended to take 1000-2000 mg of EPA and DHA daily, which corresponds to about one or two capsules of quality fish oil," Avramova noted.

According to her, collagen also plays an important role in maintaining healthy skin, hydrolyzed forms that stimulate the production of your own collagen are better absorbed. It can be consumed in powder or capsule form.

Antioxidants such as vitamins A, C, E protect the skin from the negative effects of free radicals and slow down the aging process. According to the doctor, supplements with these vitamins are especially effective in combination with coenzyme Q10, which improves cellular energy exchange.

In addition, the specialist advises to include hyaluronic acid in the diet, its regular consumption helps moisturize the skin from the inside and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The recommended dose is approximately 100-200 mg per day. Also, to maintain youthful skin, maintaining water balance is key; you should consume at least 1.5-2 liters of water daily.

"Supplements should be effective and safe. To achieve results, it is important to select them together with doctors, paying attention to the labeling and reputation of the manufacturer. Quality vitamins can become reliable allies of health," Avramova summarized.
