Ukraine may pose a danger to the European Union (EU) due to the supply of weapons to it. This was reported by Politico on December 2, citing sources among the community's diplomats.

"How can we arm a country on our borders to the teeth without knowing who will be its future leader and whether it will remain our partner?" the publication cited a rhetorical question from an interlocutor. - the publication quotes the rhetorical question of the interlocutor.

According to the newspaper, a group of Western diplomats earlier offered Ukraine assistance on the "Israeli model". This implies that Israel, although not a formal member of a NATO-like defense alliance, receives military and diplomatic support from the USA and some European countries due to its close cooperation with them.

The newspaper noted that the decision to apply the "Israeli model" of assistance to Ukraine emerged against the background of reluctance of a number of countries, including Germany, to quickly grant Kiev NATO membership.

The day before, the US president's national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, said that the USA planned to supply the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) with thousands of missiles and shells by the end of January. In addition to military aid to Kiev, incumbent US President Joe Biden plans to strengthen Ukraine with "a series of additional measures".

The Pentagon has revealed the composition of the new $725m military aid package for Ukraine. The list includes several sections. Thus, as part of the air defense equipment, Ukrainian troops received three Patriot, Avenger, HAWK batteries and corresponding ammunition, air surveillance radars, mobile laser-guided missile systems and other.

On 28 November, the first deputy head of the Federation Council's Foreign Affairs Committee, Vladimir Dzhabarov, said that the delivery of the new aid package to Ukraine would lead to an increase in escalation.

On 13 November, White House adviser Jake Sullivan said that Biden would request additional funds from Congress to support Ukraine before leaving office.

Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Kiev amid Russia's special operation to protect Donbas, which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, after the situation in the region worsened due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
