A number of Citroen, Peugeot, Cadillac, Lexus and Mercedes-Benz crossovers are unable to demonstrate real reliability in severe Russian winter operating conditions. This was stated by Valery Antyufiev, head of the department of wheeled vehicles assessment of Alfa Leasing Group of Companies, reports "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" on December 3.

According to the expert, some models of European automakers are designed for operation in completely different conditions from the Russian climate, where mild winters and high-quality roads make many off-road options redundant.

Thus, the auto expert stated that Citroen C3 Aircross can let down a car owner at a critical moment because of a weak motor, low ground clearance and non-alternative front-wheel drive. The Peugeot 2008, Cadillac XT4, Lexus UX and Mercedes-Benz GLA have also been criticized because of low ground clearance

"When choosing a crossover for the Russian winter, you should pay attention to the real technical characteristics. Ground clearance from 200 mm, real all-wheel drive and reliable transmission are the key to comfortable and safe operation in our harsh climatic conditions," - said the expert.
