Russian Armed Forces liberate Romanovka in the DNR and Novovodarivka in the Zaporizhzhya region

The Russian Armed Forces have liberated the settlements of Romanovka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) and Novodovarovka in Zaporizhzhya Region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on December 3.

"The units of the Southern group of troops as a result of decisive actions liberated the settlement of Romanovka in the Donetsk People's Republic. <...> The units of the Vostok group of troops as a result of active actions liberated the settlement of Novodovarovka in the Zaporizhzhya region," the ministry said in a statement.

In addition, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) lost up to 460 military personnel in the area of responsibility of the Western group of troops. The AFU repelled 11 counterattacks by assault groups, two brigades of the National Guard and one brigade of thero-defense. In addition to the loss of a large number of servicemen, a 122-millimeter D-30 howitzer and two American-made M119 105-millimeter guns were destroyed. The Anclav-N electronic warfare station and three field depots with ammunition were destroyed.

The AFU also lost more than 40 military personnel, two vehicles and a 122-millimeter Gvozdika self-propelled artillery unit as a result of the actions of units of the "North" group of forces, which defeated a Ukrainian army brigade and a National Guard brigade in Kharkiv region.

Earlier, on December 2, the head of the Russian administration of Kharkiv Region, Vitaliy Ganchev, said that the Russian Armed Forces were conducting an offensive in the Kupyansk, Borovsk and Volchansk directions in the region.

Prior to that, on December 1, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the Russian army had taken control of the settlements of Ilyinka and Petrovka in the DNR.

On November 29, it was reported that four settlements were liberated during the week. In the DNR, the Center group liberated Novaya Ilyinka and Vorovskoye, while the Eastern group liberated the village of Razdolye. In addition, units of the West group liberated the village of Kopanki in Kharkiv Region.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
