The second defendant in the fraud case of the former deputy head of the Ministry of Transport was sent to pre-trial detention center

Vyacheslav Smirnov, the second defendant in the criminal fraud case against former deputy head of the Russian Ministry of Transport Alexei Semenov, has been sent to pre-trial detention center. This was reported on December 3 by the press service of the courts of general jurisdiction of Moscow.

"The decision of the Dorogomilovsky district court of Moscow satisfied the petition of the preliminary investigation bodies to elect a measure of restraint in the form of detention in custody against Smirnov Vyacheslav Viktorovich, accused of committing a crime under part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation," - stated in the Telegram-channel of the press service.

Semenov was detained in the case of fraud on a large scale on November 30. Later he was sent to the pre-trial detention center.

Semenov was sent into retirement in November 2020. He was appointed to the post of deputy minister on October 4, 2018. In the ministry, he was in charge of digital development.
