Sobyanin reported record growth of tourist flow to Moscow


In January-September, all the main tourist indicators of the capital (tourist flow, volume of tourist consumption, contribution to the city budget) exceeded the record values of the same period of 2019. Mayor Sergey Sobyanin wrote about it in his personal blog.
"Moscow received 19.7 million guests, which is 8% more than in the same period last year, and 1% more than in 2019," - said the mayor.
At the same time, the number of domestic tourists in the first nine months of the year amounted to about 17.8 million people (this is 7% more than in 2023). St. Petersburg, Krasnodar Krai, Rostov, Vladimir, Tula, Nizhny Novgorod, Kaluga regions, Tatarstan, Saratov and Tver regions are leading in the number of guests.
Almost 2 million tourists came to the Russian capital from near and far abroad. "The tourist flow of foreigners increased by 19%. The top countries in the tourist flow from far abroad are China, India, Turkey, Iran, UAE, Saudi Arabia and Vietnam," Sobyanin specified.
Hotel occupancy in the period amounted to 76% - this is 6 percentage points more than in 2023, and 1 percentage point more than in 2019.
According to Sobyanin, the volume of tourist and excursion consumption for January-September 2024 is estimated at more than 1 trillion rubles. The city budget will receive 147.9 billion rubles.
