The court sentenced to 18.5 years in prison a man who seized and raped a hostage in prison

Omsk court sentenced to 18.5 years of imprisonment a prisoner, who took a nurse hostage in the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service. This was reported on December 3 by the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee (ICS) of Russia for the region in the social network "VKontakte".

It is specified that the incident occurred on August 3, 2023 in the medical unit.

"Previously repeatedly convicted, including for premeditated murder with aggravating circumstances, a man serving a sentence in prison, threatening the blade of a clerical knife, took hostage a nurse, raped and held her for three hours. Thanks to the measures taken by the staff, the hostage was released," the publication says.

The court sentenced the prisoner to 18 years and 6 months in prison. The first 4 years he will serve in prison, the following - in a correctional colony of strict regime with restriction of freedom for 1.5 years.

Earlier, on August 23, in the Volgograd region, prisoners of the correctional colony took hostage the employees of the Federal Penitentiary Service. Four employees were injured of varying degrees of severity. The convicts were neutralized by snipers of the Rosgvardia.

A criminal case under part 4 of article 206 ("Hostage-taking") and part 3 of article 321 ("Disorganization of the activities of institutions providing isolation from society") was initiated over the incident.
