Captured serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Serhiy Stokoz said on December 3 that he was sent to Kursk Region five days after mobilization.

"A summons from the military enlistment office came. I as a limited fit went to find out what is, after all, I was not supposed to. I was told: pass the commission, we don't know anything. I passed the commission, as a result, I got into military service," he said.

According to the man, he and his coworkers had five days of military training in Chernihiv region, after which untrained and sick AFU soldiers were taken to positions in Kursk region.

Stokoz added that he was afraid to flee and was soon captured when the Russian military stormed the position. At the same time, contrary to the threats of Ukrainian commanders, he was treated well in captivity and was not bullied, the military officer said.

On the eve, December 2, captured AFU soldier Vladimir Gorbatko said that employees of the Ukrainian military recruitment center had held him for four days when he came to undergo a medical examination. The man was promised to be released home, but was sent to the army and then deceitfully taken to Kursk Region. After three days at the positions without the necessary equipment Gorbatko decided to surrender as a prisoner of war.

Ukraine has been under martial law since February 2022. Then the President of the country Volodymyr Zelensky (term of office expired on May 20) signed a decree on general mobilization, its effect was repeatedly extended. In April 2024, the head of the Kiev regime approved the law on toughening mobilization.
