Fraudsters have started to use a new scheme to deceive citizens by means of QR codes. This was told on December 3 by tax lawyer, head of the law enforcement center in Moscow and Moscow region Alexander Khaminsky.

"The victim receives a QR code in messenger, by which it is necessary to send money to a special account. In some cases, they can send a courier with false powers of attorney. And as a final chord a citizen receives a QR code allegedly for transferring tax payments to the budget," he told "RIA Novosti".

The lawyer has paid attention that the victim of the scheme is promised that the money will be returned within several days, however it is done so that the fraudsters have time to withdraw cash. Khaminsky emphasized that real tax officials communicate with citizens through the personal office of the taxpayer or through a direct call to the inspection.

"There is no other way. And if you are offered another way of communication, it means that at the other end of the telephone cable are fraudsters," - said the lawyer.

Earlier, on December 1, an expert of the direction "Popular Front. Analytics" Alla Khrapunova told about a new type of fraud with postcards in messengers. According to her, the danger may also represent pictures of reduced size, which require magnification to recognize the picture on them. The analyst noted that this can redirect the user to a phishing site, which will be used to collect personal data.
