Vilfand predicted changeable weather in winter in Russia

The coming winter on the territory of the Russian Federation promises to be variable and heterogeneous. Roman Vilfand, the scientific head of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center, told RIA Novosti on December 3.
"Winter will be heterogeneous, but thaws will still be more frequent than severe frosts... milder weather will prevail," he said.
Vilfand noted that in Siberia, especially in the northern part, the winter weather will be 5-10 degrees above normal.
"However, by Moscow standards, it will certainly still be still what frosts," he noted.
Earlier, on December 2, the head of the Meteo forecasting center, Alexander Shuvalov, told Izvestia that the mild winter in Moscow and the Moscow region is a consequence of a warm autumn. The forecaster specified that the past warm autumn period is a local phenomenon.
