An army aviation crew on an Mi-28NM helicopter as part of a mixed tactical group has struck an air-guided missile at armored vehicles and personnel of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) in the Kursk border region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on December 3.

The servicemen struck at the coordinates of the air gunner during a combat mission to support ground troops.

After the missile reached the target, the crew performed anti-missile maneuvering at a very low altitude, released heat traps, which can protect against attacks from a portable anti-aircraft missile system, and went to a safe place. After the committed actions, the forward air gunner confirmed the destruction of the targets.

Earlier, on December 2, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that an Army aviation crew on a Ka-52 helicopter as part of a mixed tactical group struck the AFU personnel and stronghold with air missiles.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
