Pentagon reveals composition of new $725 mln military aid package for Ukraine


Ukraine will receive drones, missiles, ammunition and air defense systems as part of the US aid package worth $725m. This became known from the list published on the Pentagon website on 2 December.
The list includes several sections. Thus, as part of air defense systems, Ukrainian troops received three batteries Patriot, Avenger, HAWK and the corresponding ammunition, air surveillance radars, mobile missile systems with laser guidance and other.
TheUS will also give Ukraine more than 40 HIMARS multiple rocket launchers (MLRS) with ammunition, 155mm and 105mm howitzers, and 105mm, 122mm, 130mm, 155mm and 152mm shells. In addition, the aid package included 31 Abrams tanks, more than 300 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs), Stryker and M113 armored personnel carriers, as well as miscellaneous vehicles, trucks, and tank ammunition.
In the section of aerial equipment it is stated that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) will receive 20 Mi-17 helicopters, UAV models Phoenix Ghost, Hornet, Scan Eagle, Puma, Jump-20 and Vampire.
It is noted that more than 10 thousand Javelin anti-tank systems, anti-tank mines, communication equipment and field equipment will also be transferred.
On December 2, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced the allocation of a new $725m military aid package for Ukraine.
On November 28, it was reported that the administration of incumbent US President Joe Biden was developing a new $725m aid package for Ukraine, within the framework of which it planned to provide various anti-tank weapons from the US stockpile.
At the same time, the first deputy head of the Federation Council's Committee on International Affairs, Vladimir Dzhabarov, said that the delivery of the new aid package to Ukraine would lead to an increase in escalation.
Meanwhile, Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh said on November 14 that the USA intended to supply Ukraine with all the weapons promised by Biden before he leaves office.
Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Kiev amid Russia's special operation to protect Donbas, which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on 24 February 2022 after the situation in the region worsened due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
