The United Nations stands for ending the conflict in Ukraine and does not encourage escalation. This was stated by the official representative of UN Secretary-General António Guterres, Stephane Dujarric, on 2 December.

Commenting to TASS on the statement of the head of European diplomacy Kai Kallas about further deployment of European troops on Ukrainian territories, he pointed out that the organization wants the conflict to end for the sake of civilians in Russia and Ukraine. In addition, he expressed his desire for the fighting to end in accordance with General Assembly resolutions on international law and the integrity of the territories.

"We are in favor of ending this conflict and do not encourage further escalation on one side or the other," the agency quoted Dujarric as saying.

Earlier in the day, Florian Philippot, leader of France's Patriots party, said Callas wanted to "spill the blood of Europeans" to serve the interests of globalist oligarchs. The politician also pointed out that the European Union is "increasingly mad" about the Ukrainian conflict. In conclusion, the head of the French Patriots party called on Paris to withdraw from the EU and NATO as soon as possible.

On December 1, the mandate of the new European Commission headed by Ursula von der Leyen began, which was approved by the European Parliament on November 27. On the first day, Kallas and new European Council head António Costa visited Kiev.

Kallas said that the possibility of European countries sending troops to Ukraine cannot be ruled out.

Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Ukraine amid Russia's special operation to protect Donbass, which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, after the situation in the region worsened due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
