Russia has blocked the work program of the UN Security Council (UNSC) for December developed by the USA because of the inclusion of a meeting on Ukraine in the plan. This was stated by Russia's first deputy permanent representative to the UN Dmitry Polyansky on December 2.

"As I expected, the Americans went on principle and, just like the British, remained without an approved Security Council work program for the month, refusing to remove the meeting on Ukraine from its draft," he wrote in his Telegram channel.

Polyansky explained that the program should contain meetings in accordance with the mandate-reporting cycle of the Security Council, but Ukraine does not belong to such.

"We were predictable and transparent about our position from the very beginning," the Russian first deputy permanent representative to the UN added.

Earlier, on November 27, Polyansky said at the Security Council meeting on Ukraine that Russia will definitely give the most decisive and mirror response to each of the rounds of escalation that may follow from unfriendly Western states.

The diplomat also asked to take into account that there is no counter to Russia's most advanced hypersonic weapons in the world today. According to him, American anti-missile defense systems in Europe will not be able to intercept them.

Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Ukraine amid Russia's special operation to protect Donbass, which began on February 24, 2022. The decision to conduct this operation was taken by Russia because of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to the increased shelling by Ukrainian troops.
