Peskov said Russia's initial path in creating an alternative to the West's sports games

Russia is creating alternative sports competitions to the West, but the process is still at the beginning of the road. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said this on December 2.

He noted that this is a very difficult task, pointing out the need to provide athletes with international competitions.

"It does not always work out in terms of composition - we are only at the beginning of this path. At the beginning of the way to create an alternative system of competitions," - added Peskov during a conversation with journalists.

Earlier in the day it became known that by decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin the World Friendship Games were postponed until special order. Later in the press service of the Games reported that the organizing committee of the organization is preparing proposals for the dates of the tournament, as well as developing a new roadmap for the games.

The World Friendship Games are international sports competitions in 35 sports. Putin signed a decree to hold them on April 19. The event was scheduled in Moscow and Yekaterinburg for September 15-29, 2024. But on August 23, it became known that the games were postponed to the summer of 2025 or 2026.
