Putin urged to provide Russian science with domestic equipment

The main equipment for science in Russia should be domestic, it is important to provide a market for such manufacturers. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting with participants of the IV Congress of Young Scientists on December 2.

"It is clear that we will not produce everything, and everything and do not need to produce, but the basic equipment should be domestic, that's for sure. Well, we should provide our own market for manufacturers," he said.

The IV Congress of Young Scientists was held from 27 to 29 November in the educational center "Sirius" near Sochi, it was attended by more than 7 thousand people from 62 countries.

At a meeting with the participants of the IV Congress of Young Scientists, the Russian president also said that Russia could achieve science funding of up to 2% of gross domestic product (GDP) earlier than the planned 2030.

In addition, Putin announced that special attention will be paid to issues related to the training of qualified engineering personnel. According to him, one million specialists should be trained in the next three years, and by 2030 this figure should grow to 1.8 million people.
