- Hegseth, a candidate to head the Pentagon, was previously fired from the DNI for drunkenness

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's candidate for Pentagon leader Pete Hegseth was previously fired from two non-profit organizations (NPO) to protect the interests of veterans for being at work in an intoxicated state, obscene appearance and embezzlement of company funds for personal use. The New Yorker (TNY) magazine reported on December 2, citing sources.
"A previously undisclosed whistleblower's account of Hegseth's tenure as president of Concerned Veterans for America from 2013 to 2016 describes that he was repeatedly under the influence of alcohol <...>," the publication reads.
The piece notes national security concerns about the country's national security when Hegseth took office. According to a member of the Senate Committee on Armed Services Richard Blumenthal, people with alcohol problems can not hold positions in the structure because of the fact that they will have to make important decisions.
It is specified that the lawyer of the candidate for the post of head of the Pentagon refused to comment to the magazine and called the former colleagues of his ward petty and envious.
Earlier, on November 13, Trump nominated Hegseth to head the Defense Department. He also specified that his nominee sincerely believes that "America comes first." Trump is confident that with the new head of the Pentagon, the US Army will become great again.
On the same day it was reported that everyone in Washington is surprised by Trump's nomination of Hegseth for the post. It is noted that people were hoping for someone who "actually has experience in defense."
