The unemployment rate in Russia is 2.7%, which actually indicates that there is no unemployment, but there is a problem of a shortage of workers. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin on December 2.

"We have minimal unemployment, there is actually no unemployment - 2.7%. This is actually the absence of unemployment, we have a problem of labor shortage," said the head of state at a meeting with young scientists in Novo-Ogaryovo.

He called the solution to the problem the introduction of new technologies, including in the field of artificial intelligence.

According to the head of state, the example with the use of AI in the work of translators demonstrates that this tool leads not to the loss of jobs, but to the retooling of specialists.

Earlier, on October 29, Putin pointed out that the unemployment rate in Russia is falling lower and lower, and every quarter the historical minimum for this indicator is updated. He attributed this to government policy in recent years, along with the efforts of the business community and labor unions. This level is also minimal in comparison with other leading countries of the world, the head of state pointed out.
