The district festival and forum "Russian Creative Week - Volga", which will be held on December 5-7 in Nizhny Novgorod, will complete the cycle of regional creative weeks in 2024. The Russian Creative Week - Volga will be hosted by the cultural and educational center Akademiya Mayak.

Nizhny Novgorod Region is one of the leading regions in the development of the creative economy. The region has more than 180 industry awards in the creative industries, culture and tourism. In 2023, regional initiatives for the development of creative industries were recognized by the Russian national award Russian Creative Awards in the nomination "Creative Region".

"Russian Creative Week" in the regions is one of the important tools for systematization and development of the country's creative economy, holding the district festival-forum in Nizhny Novgorod is an important acquisition for the region, emphasized Oleg Berkovich, Deputy Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region:

"Nizhny Novgorod is no longer a startup in the field of creative industries, we have advanced further. The region and our creative companies are sound, and we realize that we need to consolidate meaningful leadership within the industry. Therefore, we are developing a strategy for the development of creative industries, which we will defend in the near future in the ASI, and we are developing a large number of support measures for creative businesses. The largest share, about 60%, in the structure of the creative economy is occupied by IT. Then come fashion and gastronomy. Fashion is also seriously growing, many new brands are appearing, a modern weaving factory has appeared in Volodarsky district of Nizhny Novgorod region. Art crafts are a separate topic. Nizhny Novgorod region is a leader in the number of preserved crafts, 27 enterprises work in this sphere. Historical productions are being revived, this is accompanied by marketing promotion, and together with them the territories and small towns to which the crafts are attached are being restarted. A vivid example is the town of Gorodets and Gorodets painting. "Creative Week - Volga" we see for ourselves as an assembly point of the Volga regions, a platform to talk about the work of the law, strategies and support measures, sharing experiences with our neighbors."

The rich program of "Russian Creative Week - Volga" reflects the profile of the district's creative industries. Three full working days, more than 30 events - in the business and festival programs. The venue will bring together more than 50 speakers, including federal experts, said Marina Mongush (Abramova), director of the Russian Creative Week forum and president of ANO Creative Economy:

"We will have two dimensions of the program: strategy and industry. At the strategy level, we will discuss the integration of values into regional strategies for the development of creative industries, the creative economy as a driver of advanced regional development, the role of creative industries in spatial development and master planning. At the sectoral level, the business program focuses on the portrait of creative industries in the host region. These are folk arts and crafts, and Nizhny Novgorod region as the industry capital, commemorative dates as drivers of urban renewal, art residences and clusters as new cultural ecosystems, local gastronomy and creation of the image of a place, artificial intelligence in creative industries. These topics are topical today. Creative industries are one of the main consumers of neural networks, however, the issues of technological sovereignty arise here, as foreign neural networks are mainly used for content production. Together with our partners from Sber and Yandex, we will discuss how authors can interact with Russian AI. In general, summarizing the year-long cycle of Russian Creative Weeks, I would like to note that we have managed to launch and develop the practice of working with creative businesses, to create an understanding that the governor and his team can be producers of their regions. The next stage in the development of the creative economy is the strategic level, impact. What social effects creative industries give to the governor's team, to the population, how they affect small towns and rural areas".

On December 7, the final day of "Russian Creative Week - Volga" will be dedicated to creative industries in the cultural sphere. Nizhny Novgorod will spend 2024 in the honorary status of the cultural capital of the year. The program includes lectures and public talks on the specifics of working in art residences, rethinking of folk art crafts, development of small towns and much more.

As part of the festival program in Nizhny Novgorod, there will be a presentation of industry research, music jam sessions, and screenings of new cinema.

Participation in the festival-forum is free of charge, and the full program can be found on the Russian Creative Week - Volga website volga.creativityweek.ru.
