Insurers named the most stolen car in 2024 in Russia

According to preliminary results of 2024, the number of car thefts in Russia has decreased by 22%, as follows from the data of analysts of VSK insurance house, which were presented to "Izvestia" on December 2. Most of all such incidents were recorded in Moscow and the North Caucasus, and the most popular brand among car thieves was domestic LADA.

The most frequently stolen cars in the country were LADA (66%), Lexus (8.5%), Hyundai and Kia (6% each), as well as BMW, Mitsubishi, Toyota and Volkswagen (2.8% each), experts said. LADA Vesta and LADA Granta (37% and 28%, respectively) were stolen most of all. Mostly the victims of criminals were corporate car fleets - 77% of cases in 2024.

Approximately 40% of hijackings were recorded in Moscow, 26% in Dagestan, and 17% in Kabardino-Balkaria. The peak of crimes in 2024 was in February, March and July (29% of hijackings each). The least often such cases were recorded in January, May and August (less than 3% in each period).

The day before it was reported that for 11 months of 2024 in Russia was sold 417.4 thousand passenger and commercial vehicles Lada. This is 30.6% more compared to the same period last year. In November, sales amounted to 39.6 thousand units (+9.8% compared to November last year). This is stated in the report of AvtoVAZ.
