Major-General Dmytro Marchenko, who has been dismissed from the Ukrainian Armed Forces, has said that there is a global level of corruption in the country. This was reported on December 2 by the Ukrainian edition of Strana.ua.

"Just global corruption everywhere. I do not understand how we are still holding on with such," he said.

According to him, due to corruption, including business is sinking its hands. Marchenko noted that businessmen now refuse to help the Ukrainian army and more and more want to "close their business, sell everything and move abroad".

Major-General Marchenko resigned from the service on November 8. At that time, he noted that he was undergoing necessary treatment.

Earlier, on October 30, former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, speaking at a meeting of the Rada, criticized the Ukrainian government for serving the interests of corrupt officials. The former president accused the Ukrainian government of ignoring the main priority of the Ukrainian budget, namely the funding of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Before that, on October 5, French politician and leader of the Patriots party Florian Philippot called on Western countries to stop funding Ukraine because of corruption in the country. Philippot had already called on the West to make such a decision in August after the deputy head of the Ukrainian Energy Ministry and three of his accomplices were detained for a $500,000 bribe.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
