US President Joe Biden may pardon someone else from his family, besides his son Hunter, before the end of his term in office. This assumption was made by American political scientist Malek Dudakov in a conversation with Izvestiya on December 2.

Biden, whose powers expire in January, decided to pardon Hunter the day before. He was accused in two criminal cases: non-payment of taxes and possession of weapons. The head of state emphasized that his son was targeted solely because of political pressure.

"I quite admit that this is not the last pardon that Joe Biden will issue in the near future, he still has a month and a half left as president, and he may try to pardon some other members of his family who have also been scandalized by corruption. In particular, his brother James Biden," Dudakov commented.

He also noted that this decision of the American leader sets a precedent - none of the U.S. presidents had initiated pardons for their children before him. In addition, added the interlocutor of the publication, since the presidency of Richard Nixon (held office from 1969 to 1974), there has been no pardon for all crimes at once.

According to the Americanist, the Democratic Party of the United States was frightened by the nomination of President-elect Donald Trump to the post of head of the FBI Cash Patel, who was investigating corruption among Democrats. Now the Democrats are scared that the Republican administration may bring criminal cases, that's why they started to act, Dudakov believes.

"At the same time, Trump will still try to create problems for the Democrats, the opportunities he still has for this, despite the fact that the pardon of Hunter Biden will not allow to put him in jail for all this corruption that he bred in Ukraine after 2014," - concluded the political scientist.

Reacting to his father's decision, Hunter Biden said that he intends to devote his life to helping people with addictions. In turn, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told Izvestia that Hunter's pardon is a caricature of democracy.

Before that, on October 24, Trump, at that time a presidential candidate, admitted that he could pardon Hunter Biden after his victory. According to the politician, he is able to take such a step, although he himself was severely persecuted by the current authorities. At the same time, the White House has repeatedly denied the possibility of such a decision.

In September, Hunter Biden pleaded guilty to nine counts of criminal charges in the case of non-payment of taxes, and in June - on three counts of weapons possession. At the same time, he himself pleaded guilty in the case of tax crimes.
