Ukrainian journalist Sokolovska will be tried in absentia in Russia for faking about the army

The Moscow prosecutor's office has approved charges in the criminal case against Ukrainian journalist Yanina Sokolovska. This was reported on December 2 in the Telegram-channel of the department.

"She is charged under item "e" part 2 of article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Public dissemination under the guise of reliable reports of deliberately false information containing data on the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, committed on the grounds of political hatred")," the Moscow prosecutor's office said in a statement.

The journalist was elected a measure of restraint in the form of detention, she is in the international wanted list.

In the future, the case will be considered in the Ostankinsky district court, the prosecutor's office said.

Sokolovskaya was put on federal wanted list in Russia on July 19 as a fugitive from investigation, and then, on July 29, she was put on international wanted list in the territory of Interpol member countries.

On July 26, 2023, the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia opened a criminal case under Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Public dissemination of knowingly false information about the use of the Russian Armed Forces") against Sokolovskaya.

According to the data established by the investigation, from March to May 2022, the journalist published knowingly false information about the actions of Russian servicemen against the civilian population of Ukraine in her Telegram channel under the guise of reliable reports.
