Forecaster says winter "heat wave" in Asian part of Russia

In the regions of the Asian part of Russia will remain above normal temperature, in some areas its values will be 16-18 degrees above normal. This was reported on December 2 by the scientific head of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center Roman Vilfand.

"On the Asian part of the country, here everything is really blazing scarlet-red color. The anomalies are just crazy, just winter heat. In Yakutia, in the Krasnoyarsk region, the temperature is 16-18 degrees above normal," he told Interfax.

The forecaster specified that for Yakutia this means temperatures of -20...-25 degrees, instead of 45-degree frosts.

"Although in the north of Yakutia, and in the east of Yakutia, temperatures will still drop to -38 degrees, but in some areas," he added.

The only region in which "normal" weather is forecast remains Irkutsk region, where temperatures will drop to -36...-38 degrees Celsius at night during the next few days.

The weather will change in Primorsky Krai and in the south of Krasnoyarsk Krai: there the air temperature will gradually decrease. In the European part of the country the temperature will be about normal.

Earlier on Monday, Vilfand predicted an almost snowless week in Moscow. He noted that there will be almost no snow in the capital this week due to high pressure. In the second half of the week it will be very high, only 0.5 mm of snow will fall in the city.
