The Russian military is effectively fighting drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and quickly responds to their launches. Mikhail Fedorov, Ukraine's Minister of Digital Transformation, told Reuters in an interview on December 2.

"Russia has improved monitoring of drone launches [by Ukraine], responds quickly and targets launch sites. These nuances require constant changes in launching and communication methods," he said.

Fedorov pointed out that Kiev has started to produce more strike drones compared to last year, but they are still not enough to fulfill all missions. The minister said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, whose term of office expired on May 20, ordered to produce at least 30,000 drones in 2025, including 3,000 missile drones, and now the country's entire military industry is focused on this task.

Fedorov emphasized that the issue here is not about which side launches more drones, but about ways to defend against them.

The minister added that the AFU has purchased several thousand ground platforms that will be used to supply units with ammunition and food. Fedorov noted that it is not easy to work with such equipment, because it requires organizational skills.

Earlier in the day, Forbes magazine reported that the 155th mechanized brigade of the AFU, which underwent three months of training in France and Poland, has few drones and radio jammers to combat them due to low funding. The rate of drone production in Ukraine is insufficient to supply the military.

At the same time, Zelensky admitted that the AFU does not have enough soldiers and a diplomatic solution should be sought in the Ukrainian conflict. The Ukrainian president said that he was dissatisfied with the amount of aid provided to Kiev by Western allies and called for an increase in supplies.

Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Kiev amid Russia's special operation to protect Donbas, which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on 24 February 2022 after the situation in the region worsened due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
