Decorating yards and entrances for the New Year is a great way to give a festive atmosphere to all residents, but one should not forget about safety and convenience. Public figure and housing and utilities expert Dmitry Bondar told Izvestia on December 3 about what decorations are suitable for decorating the yard and entrance.

"Decorating common spaces requires taking into account fire safety rules, peculiarities of climatic conditions and coordination with the management company to avoid conflicts," Bondar notes.

According to him, the main thing for decorating the common space is to comply with safety regulations. When installing a Christmas tree in the entranceway, you need to make sure that it stands securely, and the distance between the branches and the walls is at least 1 m.

"When using garlands, choose only certified factory-made products. The packaging should include information about the class of moisture protection, especially if the garland is planned for street use. For exterior decoration suitable products labeled IP44 and above", - says the expert.

According to the expert, it is preferable to use decorations made of non-flammable material such as metal, glass or fireproof textiles for decoration in the yard and entrance, while tinsel and plastic toys should be avoided.

When choosing outdoor decorations, you should pay attention to climatic conditions. Cold and high humidity can damage garlands, so it is important to make sure they are resistant to low temperatures and moisture. All electrical wires and connections should be protected from snow and rain.

Before you start decorating the entryway, you should notify the management company. This is especially important if the decorations may make cleaning difficult or require access to shared electricity. Some management companies can offer decorating tips, and newer homes sometimes even initiate collaborative decorating projects.

"Different decorating styles will suit different types of homes. For old entrances you can choose a warm classic style with wooden and textile elements, and in new buildings - modern minimalism with an emphasis on light garlands and laconic decorations," - summarized Bondar.

Earlier, on November 30, construction expert, founder and CEO of GLASNAB Fyodor Vasiliev told Izvestia about how to choose an electric garland. According to the expert, it is important to pay attention to the type of bulbs. Thus, classic incandescent bulbs create a warm, cozy light, but they consume a lot of energy and burn out quickly.
