Zhang Yi, CEO of iiMedia Research Institute, told a robotics conference in Beijing that such companion robots in the form of pets have high commercial potential among buyers because of their "cute" appearance. "Compared to a cat or kittens, they still lack flexibility in communication and true companionship," emphasized the CEO.

The companion robots are also capable of learning. The price for a pet with AI on trading sites starts at $190.
