It has become popular in China to buy pets with built-in artificial intelligence (AI). This was reported by the Global Times on December 1.

Zhang Yi, CEO of iiMedia Research Institute, told a robotics conference in Beijing that such companion robots in the form of pets have high commercial potential among buyers because of their "cute" appearance. It is noted that AI-powered simulators are of a large variety, and their advantage is that they do not require special care and daily walks.

"Compared to a cat or kittens, they still lack flexibility in communication and true companionship," emphasized the CEO.

The companion robots are also capable of learning. The price for a pet with AI on trading sites starts at $190.

Earlier, on November 28, an expert on artificial intelligence and VR Yaroslav Fertyakov assessed the possibility of AI to replace humans. According to the expert, artificial intelligence is the next stage of evolutionary development after humans, so it should be responsible for what it is taught.
