The Central Bank (CBR) of Russia has issued two investment gold coins "St. George the Victorious" in denominations of Br200 and Br10 thousand. This was reported in the press service of the regulator on December 2.
Investment coins are made of precious metal of 999th sample. It was specified that the circulation of Br200 coins will be up to 100 thousand pieces, while up to 100 investment gold coins of Br10 thousand will be put into circulation.
On the obverse side of the coins placed a relief image of the coat of arms of Russia, while the reverse side depicts St. George on a horse, striking a snake with a spear.
Monetary units are legal means of cash payment and are obligatory for acceptance without restrictions.
Earlier, on November 26, "Izvestia" got acquainted with the information on the website of the regulator and found out that in 2025 the Central Bank plans to issue up to 1 million investment coins of the series "St. George the Victorious". It is planned to issue up to 500 thousand silver ones and up to 500 thousand gold ones. Along with gold bullion investment coins are considered by Russians as a protective asset, explained "Izvestia" analyst of FG "Finam" Alexander Potavin.
Prior to that, on October 7, the Central Bank of Russia put into circulation a gold coin "St. George the Victorious" with a face value of Br100. Its mintage amounted to 100 thousand pieces.
