An osteopath spoke about inappropriate footwear for winter

Uggs, shoes with thin soles, heels or platforms should not be worn in winter because of the risk of injury and aggravation of joint problems. This was stated on December 2, osteopathic doctor, head of the author's clinic of osteopathy Dmitry Simkin.
"The leader of the anti-rating is Uggs and other soft shoes on a flat sole. Such models may seem very soft and warm, but often comfort is limited to the fitting room in the store. The foot in Uggs is completely unsupported," he toldGazeta.Ru.
According to the osteopath, shoes with flat soles do not support the foot, because of which many people have it "piled" inside. Even if initially the uggs seem quite dense, over time the fur crumples, which increases the problem of ankle instability.
He added that orthopedic insoles won't always remedy the situation, as there may not be a replacement for the original insole in some types of shoes.
"A bad choice for winter will also be shoes with a high heel or platform. Such models have low stability. The risk of ankle sprain and even ankle fracture increases," the expert emphasized.
He noted that fabric sneakers, sneakers and boots with thin soles are also not suitable for winter shoes. The doctor specified that the feet are the main source of "heat leakage" and most often hypothermia begins unnoticed.
"Meanwhile, even a small but prolonged hypothermia can lead to a decrease in immunity and infectious diseases: from cystitis to pneumonia and even to meningitis", - summarized Simkin.
Earlier, on October 11, the head of the children's infectious diseases department of Mytishchi hospital Raisa Popova warned that blisters can cause severe infection. According to the infectious disease specialist, rye and ARVI are very similar in symptoms, but there are still distinctive features.
Popova noted that to exclude such situations should observe the rules of personal hygiene, keep the skin clean and use antiseptics. If a callus appears, it should not be pierced, let it go away on its own.
