- France's Rassemblement Nationale party has promised a vote of no confidence in the authorities

The head of the National Rally party, Jordaan Bardella, promised a vote of no confidence in the French government on Dec. 2 unless "a miracle happens."
"As soon as [French Prime Minister] Michel Barnier continues the policies of [French President] Emmanuel Macron, the Rassemblement National will certainly pass a vote of no confidence in the government," he said in an interview with RTL radio.
He noted that the party was going to vote in favor of the vote of no confidence "unless a last-minute miracle happens." At the same time, Bardella admitted that he was not hoping for a miracle after being deliberately ignored by the authorities for months.
He said Barnier had forgotten that he was leading a government that "does not have a majority in parliament or democratic legitimacy in the country."
"He presented himself as the chief negotiator who is going to talk to all opposition parties, but he has long delayed this conversation with the Rassemblement Nationale," Bardella added.
On Nov. 26, Le Parisien newspaper quoted sources as saying that Macron was preparing for a possible resignation of the French prime minister and a vote of no confidence in the current cabinet. The presidential office denied that Macron had made such statements and added that they "do not comment on current events."
Prior to that, on November 20, Marine Le Pen, leader of the National Union party, said in an interview with RTL that she would initiate a vote of no confidence in the current French government if it adopts a draft budget that would lead to a decrease in the purchasing power of the population.
Ex-European Commissioner, former French Foreign Minister, and moderate right-wing Michel Barnier was appointed as France's new Prime Minister in early September. In October, the government of this composition had already tried to put forward a vote of no confidence, but the French parliament rejected it.
