- Media reported on Hungary's investigation into preparations for a terrorist attack on the Druzhba pipeline

Hungary has launched an investigation into Slovakia's information about a planned terrorist attack on the Druzhba oil pipeline. This was reported by Magyar Nemzet on December 2.
On the eve, December 1, Slovak Interior Minister Matus Sutaj-Estok announced the beginning of an investigation into the possible preparation of terrorist attacks on critical infrastructure, including the Druzhba oil pipeline. According to him, the activity of a group was recorded in the east of the country, the data received indicated the preparation of a terrorist attack on the Druzhba pipeline. According to him, a similar group operates on the territory of Hungary.
"According to our information, the Slovak statement did not come as a surprise to the Hungarian intelligence services, as partner services share data indicating the threat of terrorist acts, regardless of politics, even before such public statements. Unfortunately, the Slovak statement had to be taken seriously," the piece said.
The publication reports that the chairman of Hungary's national security service Zoltan Sas admitted that the exchange of this information could have been carried out before Slovakia's official statement. He noted that at the moment the Hungarian security services will have to make their own necessary checks.
Sas pointed out that the Druzhba oil pipeline is a priority object of protection, and also emphasized the need to strengthen its protection.
Earlier, on December 1, it became known about a fuel leak at the Druzhba oil pipeline in Poland. During the investigation, it was found that there was a spill of a substance similar to oil in the field. PERN preemptively shut down one of the pumping substations. Until the end of the internal investigation, PERN, the Polish operator of the Druzhba pipeline, did not deny any of the theories about the causes of the incident, including intentional damage.
The Druzhba pipeline runs through Russia to the Belarusian city of Mozyr. It then branches off into two branches: the northern branch to Poland and Germany and the southern branch through Ukraine to Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Croatia.
