The DNR Supreme Court sentenced in absentia a serviceman of the Azov national battalion (a terrorist organization banned in Russia), Andrei Romashchenko, who shot dead an elderly woman in Mariupol, to 24 years in a strict regime colony. This was reported by the Investigative Committee of Russia on December 2.
"By the court verdict Romashchenko in absentia appointed punishment in the form of 24 years of imprisonment with serving in a colony of strict regime. He is declared in the international search," - stated in the Telegram-channel of the Department.
It is established that Romashchenko since the beginning of the special military operation (SMO) participated in hostilities on the territory of Mariupol. In the spring, he found a pensioner in an apartment building. The militant shot the woman in the chest with an AK-74 rifle, the victim died.
Earlier, on September 26, a member of the nationalist battalion "Aidar" (terrorist organization, banned in Russia) Ivan Nicheporenko was sentenced to 5.5 years in prison for participation in hostilities on the territory of the Luhansk and Donetsk People's Republics (LNR and DNR). It is specified that a military officer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in 2014 voluntarily took part in hostilities against civilians.
