Putin appoints Sergei Tolchenov as Russia's new ambassador to Papua New Guinea

Russian President Vladimir Putin has appointed Sergey Tolchenov as the country's new ambassador to Papua New Guinea. The decree of the head of state was posted on December 2 on the official portal of publication of legal acts.

"To appoint Sergei Gennadyevich Tolchenov as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Independent State of Papua New Guinea on a part-time basis," the document reads.

Tolchenov is 59 years old and has been in the diplomatic service since 1988. In May, he was also appointed Russian ambassador to Indonesia.

Earlier, on October 30, diplomat Alexander Khozin was appointed the new ambassador to the Republic of Bangladesh. Diplomat Alexander Mantytsky had held the post since 2021.
