American entrepreneur Ilon Musk criticized on Monday, December 2, the decision of US President Joe Biden to pardon his son Hunter, noting that the decision calls into question the integrity of the United States.

It is specified that Hunter was charged with illegal possession of weapons and violation of tax laws.

"I don't care about the drug issue, but to question the integrity of the United States is not normal," Musk wrote on his social media page X (formerly Twitter).

Biden decided to pardon his son Hunter in two criminal cases on Sunday, December 1. He noted that cases like Hunter's are usually resolved with more lenient measures, but his "opponents in Congress" used the charges against the American leader's presidency. Biden emphasized that his son was targeted solely because of political pressure.

Reacting to this, Hunter Biden said that he intends to devote his life to helping people with addictions. In turn, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told Izvestia that Hunter's pardon is a caricature of democracy.

Before that, on October 24, Trump - at that time a presidential candidate - admitted that he could pardon Hunter Biden after his victory. According to the politician, he is able to take such a step, although he himself was severely persecuted by the current authorities.

In September, Hunter Biden pleaded guilty to nine counts of criminal charges of non-payment of taxes, and in June - on three counts of weapons possession.
